Europe moves: Paul Hastings loses duo in Paris to K&L Gates

Paul Hastings partner Mounir Letayf and counsel Adeline Roboam have joined K&L Gates in Paris.

Both will join the firm’s finance team. These latest hires come after K&L Gates also boosted its Milan office with a hire from Jones Day, partner Giovanni Meschia.


Bird & Bird has hired partner Eric Charvillat to join its banking and finance practice. He joins from Latournerie Wolfrom Avocats, where he had been a partner for over six years.

Independent firm Altana has hired a team of four partners and 12 associates from De Gaulle Fleurance & Associés. Litigator Valérie Lafarge-Sarkozy, IP partner Frank Valentin, corporate and insurance partner Gilles Gaillard and competition partner Frédéric Manin will join alongside their teams.

Holman Fenwick Willan has hired former Hogan Lovells banking head Richard Jadot in Paris. He will join the firm’s banking and finance team.

French firm Degroux Brugère has hired Orrick parnter Christine Guillot-Bouhours as a partner to lead the firm’s employment team.


Bird & Bird has added in-houser Carsten Beisheim to join the firm in Düsseldorf. Beisheim was previously the general counsel and chief compliance officer for insurer Wüstenrot & Würrttembergische AG.

Dentons has hired DLA Piper partner Stefan Dittmer to strengthen its IP and technology practice in Germany. He joins alongside associate Fabian Hollwitz and two other team members.

Mayer Brown has hired Clifford Chance lawyer Christoph Crützen as a partner in the IP practice.

Luther Swedish desk co-head Sven Labudda has joined Fieldfisher in Hamburg. Labudda will join the firm’s corporaet practice, advising German businesses on their corporate activity and investmentsin Sweden and Swedish and other Scandinavian companies investing and doing business in Germany.


Gide Loyrette Nouel has added the deputy head of unity at the European Commission’s Trade Directorate General, John Lonergan, as a senior adviser. He will work within the firm’s Brussels office on trade and international regulation issues.


Dentons has launched an intellectual proeprty and technology practice in Milan with the hire of partner Giovanni Francesco Casucci from Bardehle Pagenber. He joins alongside three senior associates, one associate and one trainee.

McDermott Will & Emery has appointed tax head Carlo Paolella as the head of its Italian offices. This appointment comes amid the firm’s decision to shut down its office in Rome and focus on Milan. This week, McDermott hired a three-strong partner team from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM)’s  Milan office, including managing partner Giancarlo Castorino.


Ernst & Young partner Adolfo Zunzunegui has joined Allen & Overy in Spain. He will lead and direct the firm’s tax practice from Madrid.


Bird & Bird has added Roschier partner Mårten WIllamo as a partner and the new head of the Nordic corporate group. He will be based in the Stockholm office and work across the Nordic region. The firm has also appointed Bech Brun partner Peer Petersen to join the Copenhagen office as a media and entertainment partner.
